Vice President Jessica Alupo has urged universities to integrate the Competence-Based Curriculum (CBC) into their academic programmes in order to produce graduates equipped with critical thinking and problem-solving skills needed in today’s competitive job market.
Alupo, who also serves as Chancellor of St Lawrence University, made the remarks while officiating at the institution’s 16th graduation ceremony on Thursday.
She said universities must align their programmes with modern demands so that graduates are better prepared to address both national and global challenges.
The Vice President also encouraged higher education institutions to embrace Artificial Intelligence and integrate it into teaching and learning processes.
According to her, the technology can simplify academic work by supporting research, innovation and other scholarly activities.
Alupo congratulated the graduates on completing their studies and urged them to apply the knowledge and skills they have acquired to contribute to national development.
During the ceremony, a total of 465 students graduated, with women accounting for 52 percent of the graduates and men 48 percent, reflecting growing female participation in higher education.
