Kamala Harris Says She Is Considering a 2028 Presidential Run

Former Vice President Kamala Harris says she is considering another run for the White House in 2028, signaling that she remains open to returning to the top of the Democratic ticket after her loss to Donald Trump in 2024. Speaking at the National Action Network convention in New York, Harris said she was “thinking about it” when asked directly about another presidential campaign.

Harris framed her thinking around experience and public service, telling the audience that she understands what the presidency demands. Associated Press reported that she emphasized her knowledge of the office and presented the question as one of who could best serve the American people.

Her remarks come at a time when Democrats are debating whether the party should turn to a new generation of national leaders after the 2024 defeat. Reuters noted that Harris could face pressure from voters and party figures who want fresh faces, even though she remains one of the best known names in the party.

The event also featured other Democrats often mentioned in early 2028 speculation, including Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, and Illinois Governor JB Pritzker. That wider lineup underscored that the party’s next presidential field is already beginning to take shape, even if most potential candidates are still avoiding formal announcements.

For now, Harris has not launched a campaign, but her comments make clear that she is seriously weighing another bid and wants to remain central to the Democratic conversation about 2028.
