Ugandan comedy could be headed for a major showdown after Comedian Reign threw down the gauntlet to fellow performers across the industry.
The outspoken entertainer has challenged comedians, from stand-up acts to skit creators, to step forward and battle him and longtime comedy partner Maulana in what promises to be a thrilling clash of punchlines.
According to Reign, interested comedians must register before Friday to secure their spot in the face-off. He added that if no one accepts the challenge, it will simply confirm what he already suspects — that many are afraid to lose.
“This is the time to prove yourselves,” Reign reportedly said, calling on both stage comedians and digital skit makers to test their wit against one of the country’s most seasoned comedy duos.
However, one notable name will not be part of this particular contest. Veteran comedian Amooti Omubalanguzi has been deliberately excluded from the challenge, with Reign indicating that he is being reserved for a different showdown at a later date.
The announcement has already sparked debate among fans, with many eager to see who will step up and whether the industry is ready for a competitive comedy battle of this magnitude.
