Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals gave the Indian Premier League fresh momentum on Saturday with two tense victories that highlighted different strengths: Hyderabad’s bowling depth and Delhi’s calm under pressure. Hyderabad defeated Chennai Super Kings by 10 runs, while Delhi beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru by six wickets.
Hyderabad’s win stood out because of the way their younger bowlers defended a challenging total after Chennai appeared well placed in the chase. Chasing 195, Chennai needed 84 runs from the final 10 overs with seven wickets in hand, but Hyderabad’s attack turned the match around. Eshan Malinga led the way with 3-29, supported by Nitish Kumar Reddy, Shivang Kumar and Sakib Hussain.
Captain Ishan Kishan praised the young bowling group, saying it was encouraging to see them execute their plans under pressure. The performance was especially important because senior fast bowler Pat Cummins was unavailable, forcing Hyderabad to trust their less experienced options.
Delhi’s victory came in a different style. After slipping to 18-3 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the Capitals recovered through KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs before David Miller finished the chase in the final over. The six wicket win showed Delhi’s ability to stay composed even after a poor start.
Both Hyderabad and Delhi now have six points, making their upcoming meeting on Tuesday an important early season contest. With young bowlers stepping up and experienced finishers delivering under pressure, the IPL tempo appears to be rising at the right time.
