Prince Harry is being sued for libel by Sentebale, the African charity he co-founded in 2006 in honor of his late mother, Princess Diana. The case was filed in London’s High Court and also names Mark Dyer, Harry’s close friend and a former trustee of the organization.
Sentebale, which supports young people living with HIV and AIDS in Lesotho and Botswana, alleges that Harry and Dyer were involved in an adverse media campaign that began in March 2025 and harmed the charity’s operations, reputation, and leadership.
The lawsuit follows a long and bitter leadership dispute inside the organization. Harry, Prince Seeiso of Lesotho, and the board resigned from Sentebale in 2025 after a public clash with chair Sophie Chandauka. Chandauka later raised complaints with the UK Charity Commission, but the commission said it found no bullying while criticizing weak governance and the way the dispute played out in public.
A spokesperson for Harry has denied the allegations, calling them offensive and damaging. The spokesperson also questioned the use of charitable resources for legal action, although other reports say the case is being supported through external funding rather than Sentebale’s own program money.
The case marks an unusual reversal for Harry, who has more often appeared in court as a claimant against media outlets rather than as a defendant in a defamation suit. It also places renewed attention on the internal tensions that have clouded one of the charitable projects most closely associated with his mother’s legacy.
